Here’s a snapshot of what I do as a consultant.
Context Building
I believe that designing solutions begins with developing a deep understanding of unmet needs and hopes for change. Based on the information I gather from an initial needs and organizational assessment I design an approach to interviews with stakeholders, which centers on the human experience. In some cases I conduct more open-ended empathy interviews, in others I activate a more inspirational approach to uncover learnings, challenges and dreams. I’ll design focus groups with the same level of customization.

Ideation
The ideation process is iterative, sometimes messy and always critical in building genuine engagement and collaborative practices. I love to facilitate this process with teams and dive into the complexities and challenges. My goal is to shine light on the variation in perspective and make space for intentionality in decision making. Based on the thinking that emerges from the ideation process, I can help to identify critical activities and metrics and engage in action planning that drills down into the specific tasks, resources and timelines for work.

Activation
My approach to facilitation rejects the “moderator / participant” dynamic. I work to build trust and create relationships across the room and team to encourage natural conversation and productive work in a warm social space. Ideation yields to activation and I follow the shifting dynamics into the complex work of implementing change. I believe that the folks implementing the work, and engaged in the change, need support to interrogate the points of discomfort and challenge that inevitably surface.

Facilitation Coaching (1:1 and Team)
I understand that the work of change is continuous, personal and often extremely challenging. I am interested in looking closely at how efforts take hold or fail, and at learning from each unique experience. I share in the urgency around building more equitable and just systems, and I know the critical role story-telling plays in the work.
